PCI Raises Money to Fight Cancer
With Relay for Life Coweta County just around the corner, teams are joining together to raise money for the fight against Cancer. On Saturday, April 12th, Piedmont Cancer Institute (PCI) and Radiation Oncology Services co-hosted Newnan’s 2nd annual Zumbathon. The event brought in 50+ people and raised over $500 which will be donated to Relay for Life Coweta County.
Zumba’s Latin-inspired dance-fitness steps and lively international based music have “moved” over 12 million people across 125 countries. PCI nurse Jane Hembree RN BSN (pictured above on right) is a certified Zumba Fitness instructor. She led the Zumbathon with blood pumping, high energy dance routines. When asked about the participants Jane said, “The people who participate in these Zumbathons are some of the most caring people I know. We support and encourage each other in ways far beyond the ‘work out’.”
Another member of the exceptional nursing team at PCI, Tanya DePastino RN BSN (pictured above on left) said, “This was a great event! It was something my family and I enjoyed doing together and we raised a lot of money to help the patients who are near and dear to me.”
PCI is a proud sponsor of this year’s Relay for Life Coweta County. The staff is planning to host a Jamaican themed tent where they will sell rum cake and hand held fans to raise additional money for this important charity event. Patients and community members are encouraged to stop by and visit with Drs. Assikis and Dr. Feinstein and the rest of PCI - Newnan Team
PCI has locations in Newnan, Fayetteville and Atlanta and is currently accepting new patients. To make an appointment at any of these locations, please contact the appointment desk at 404-350-9853.
